Yuneec Typhoon H

It took me a while to get used to the controls, coming from a racing drone, but once you internalize them, you can really focus on framing a good video and even turn your attention away from the drone completely for a while with confidence that it's fine flying on it's own. I like the follow mode, and the ability to point the camera at the controller or wizard with the flick of a switch. However, follow mode cannot follow altitude changes, so you have to do those manually. Flight time is pretty long compared to a racing drone, clearly. The drone and controller did not come properly configured. I had to re-pair the controller and camera, using a wifi password (1234567890) I found on the forums. Additionally, it seems there are two camera profiles to choose from and something-PRO works better. It would have been nice if Vertigo Drones had configured this ahead of time so that the device would be truly ready to fly. The camera does not record any audio, which came as a surprise, but I wasn't going to use it anyways. Video quality is really good, assuming you choose the correct white balance.

This is my second Typhoon H and I have been pleased with both of them. I am using them commercially and purchased the second one for a backup. The Typhoon H is easy to fly with two flight modes and return to home function, which works very well, landing within 18 inches of where it too off from. I am still getting used to all of it's functions. I have found a lot of video on the Internet with tips and help in using it all and how to get great images and video from it's 4K camera. I would recommend this as an alternate to the DJI products. One negative was I had to replace the sticks in my first ST16 ground station after one year because the were no longer giving full movement. The plus is the parts and not expensive and very easy to replace. Hence the reason I give this drone a 4 - 4.5

The Yuneec Typhoon H is a wonderful machine. Very wind resistant, even in more than 20 mph gusts. The footage was extremely stable and shot in extremely high quality 4K which when reviewed was flawless. Flight times are around 21-24 minutes on a new battery. Take time to learn to use the ST16 completely, read the manual and do all your calibrations before your first flight or you may be prompted to do so mid flight. The H looks awesome and impresses. Definitely a lot of WOW for the money!!

84 years old and this is my first drone. WOW! Couldn't be happier. Certainly changed my status in a 30-40 year old neighborhood. Typhoon H virtually flies itself. Camera produces great pictures. Lot of options to learn in the photo department. Love it!

I have a business that teaches public safety Part 107 and we do actual UAS flight for the last two days. This UAS was bought to supplement the UA systems used in teaching. The real plus was the price and feedback. The system provides an all in one product so you do not have to have a separate tablet to fly. The newer ST16 with three antennas proved to work flawlessly. The camera system (GC03+) 4K worked pretty well. I do wish the system tablet had a way to digitally zoom on pictures and video like I have with my Ellipsis and K1 Shield when flying my DJI I1V2.0 does. The ability to trim the system to hover steady is a real plus and the controls are easy enough to master. It was a slight learning curve coming from operating DJI mainly. The system being a hex and the fact it will fly with a single motor failure is a plus. I do not really see motors failing from my experience but there is always the first time for anything. I do wish the motor activation button (red button) on the front of the ST had a protective cover. It would make for a safer environment for sure. The H flew as expected and performed very well. I did not time the battery life to see if we were getting 18 minutes roughly of flight time. The batteries with the aftermarket DY3 charger charged quickly and reliably. This system is definitely a great UAS to have and train with for my needs. I would not use it for commercial quality photo/video shoots however. But I do not think it was intended for such work with the camera supplied. I do think if they would get a zoom camera and maybe a thermal camera this system could be used for other needs to include maybe public safety. But I suspect they dare not do that with the H520 system as being marketed for such. Overall I would recommend this system to anyone who wants a stable and reliable unit. I will give it 4 stars because you cannot give half stars. I really think it is a 4.5 star system for nothing is perfect and what it is marketed for to the public. We may buy more of these in the future for sure to replace a system we have that is being no longer carried by another manufacturer.
