The new Yuneec H520E hexacopter was developed for commercial drone applications and provides police, fire brigades, search and rescue ground teams, inspectors and surveying teams with useful and effective results. The Yuneec H520E is a flexible, robust and powerful UAV platform that can be adapted to individual requirements and thus enables a variety of industry-specific applications. Long time flight capability and high-quality camera options with embedded GPS data allow an area to be recorded efficiently and with maximum precision. The interference-free precision compass enables flying even in difficult-to-fly environments. The H520E RTK provides survey-grade centimeter-level accuracy with CORS network connectivity built-in to the DataPilot interface. The H520E RTK also features PPK compatibility - making it a powerful took for all types of inspection and survey work. The H520E RTK module is one of the smallest all-constellation multi-frequency high precision RTK and heading modules on the market. The RTK module is targeted for use in robots/UAVs and intelligent driving applications - providing reliable centimeter-level accuracy and a high accuracy heading output at high update rates. The RTK module employs a single UC4C0 (432 channel tracking) baseband chip with internal RF front-end in a single-sided SMD package - achieving a very small size (30x40 mm). It can simultaneously track GPS L1/L2 + BDS B1/B2I + GLONASS L1/L2+Galileo E1/E5b+QZSS. The H520E RTK Module adopts new-generation “UGypsophila” RTK processing technology and takes advantage of high-performance data sharing capability and the extremely simplified operating system within the Nebulas-II GNSS SoC chip. It uses optimized multi-dimensional RTK matrix pipeline computation - resulting in much higher RTK processing capability. These features and capabilities make the Yuneec H520E a top option for commercial-grade surveyors around the world.

Q: What is the IP rating?

A: There is no IP rating for this drone (may want to consider the Yuneec H850). However, we and other operators regulary fly in conditions such as slight drizzle and snow without complications

Q: Can a H520 be upgraded to an 520 (E and RTK)?

A: No, most components internally are fundamentally different. However we do have options to convert existing H520 payloads to H520E compatability. Please email [email protected]

Q: rtk base station when will that be available for h520e rtk?

A: Since the H520E is third party compatible, Yuneec has not released their own base station.

Q: The new 520 E states that the flight time has been increased. The few reviews i have read indicate that neither the range or flight time have been improved actual much less than indicated in Yuneec ads. Would you care to clarify on this matter? Thank You Thom from

A: After some testing we found, that normally with the H520 we would loose transmission at around 1800-1900 Ft. We were able to get the H520E out to 8954 Ft before it cut out. The drone had the E90X payload on it at the time of testing.

A: I can tell you as an owner of both the H520 and H520E RTK that both the flight time and radio range have increased. There are allot of people that run aftermarket batteries but if you compare OEM to OEM the H520E batteries last about 3 to 4 minutes longer. While I have not specifically done a range test I can say that I have seen 2400ft with no issue and that would not have happened with the original H520. I have heard of individuals claiming much further but I prefer to follow VLOS regulations.

Added Security
The Yuneec H520E was developed around demands for safety and functionality. The 6-rotor system allows for a safe and stable flight by ensuring that the H520E can continue to fly safely even if a rotor fails. The built-in ultrasonic sensors allow the H520E to detect obstacles and avoid collisions, while the battery issues warnings when the voltage is too low and changes to a fail-safe function if necessary. In addition, the H520E comes equipped with a redundant control signal, a return home and a geo fence function, which ensures that the drone does not move beyond a radius specified by the user.

Updated DataPilot2.0 System
The Yuneec DataPilot™ is a comprehensive software solution for planning waypoint and survey missions. DataPilot™ is fully integrated into the hardware and software of the H520E and enables users to efficiently and consistently get the information they need. Using DataPilot™, you can collect the data needed to create orthomaps, 3D scans, crop data imagery, in the field or on the desktop for repeatable, recallable aerial flight paths. The DataPilot™ software also allows for storage of maps from many map providers for access in areas with no connectivity, and provides tools for precise way-point placement even in areas where no updated maps are available.
*Photogrammetry software is needed to process data and build 2D and 3D models.

Secure Your Data
The Yuneec H520E has been developed as a closed system, its technical design prevents communication with third party servers. Communication only takes place between the drone, the payload and the ST16E ground station controller. Log files are stored locally in the drone and are only required by Yuneec for service purposes in the event of a guarantee. There is no involuntary data transfer to servers. Neither flight data nor images, videos or log files are forwarded to external servers and remain in your possession. Thus, your data is optimally protected.

ST16E Ground Station Controller
The Android-based ST16E ground station controller is equipped with a fast Intel quad-core processor and OFDM support. Thanks to the OFDM support, the live image transmission can be expanded up to 1.7 miles. The integrated 7 inch display with touchscreen ensures precise and intuitive operation of the Yuneec H520E and shows all flight information as well as the live image from the camera. The live image can also be transferred to a larger monitor via the HDMI output of the ST16E.

Versatile Payload Options with new X-Connector
Thanks to its multiple load options, the Yuneec H520E can be easily adapted to different areas of application. Replace sensors in a matter of seconds, downtime is minimized and productivity is improved. This means that one gimbal camera combination can be exchanged for another without power cycling the airframe.

Law Enforcement:
The Yuneec H520E is perfect for accident scene reconstruction, crime scene mapping, as an “eye in the sky” for crowd control, intelligence gathering, or monitoring targeted areas. The Yuneec H520E empowers Law Enforcement officers to quickly record an accident scene in 2D or 3D, for later assembly of data for court appearances, reporting, or archiving. Camera systems with embedded GPS data enables evidence gathering to be captured and examined before fire investigators or first-responders have entered the area.

Inspections:
Vertical structures can be inspected safely and efficiently with the precise flight behavior of the H520E. Long focal lengths allow users to fly further back from the object being viewed, without compromising image quality or depth. DataPilot™ can store missions that require weekly or monthly re-flight for purposes of comparison, failure evaluation, or deterioration studies. The safety improvement and cost reduction with sUAS inspection are staggering in comparison.

Search and Rescue:
The Yuneec H520E enhances safety at a contaminated scene, speeds rescue and recovery. Firefighters appreciate the ability to “see” through smoke and rapidly identify hot spots using thermal imaging, and the ability to gain a birds-eye view of operations on a large scene. In addition, the drone can be used for scouting the route ahead for obstacles, finding victims, photographing remote crash sites, terrain mapping, crash site monitoring or for improving communication.

Site Mapping:
Pre-construction survey, topographical measurements, and project progress - The Yuneec H520E is designed to fly repeatable, perfect-placement flight over construction sites, providing not only measurable and demonstrable project data, but also helping to identify shrink points, at-risk areas, or security breach points. Autonomous flight allows for repeated flights that may be layered to determine changes in the work site and provide comparisons over time.

The system works with two components, the RTK module on board the Yuneec H520E and a base station. In under 30 seconds the Yuneec H520E RTK can reach centimeter-level accuracy - even while operating in challenging GPS conditions (with respect to the base station). The system can also be operated with a network RTK reference station (Network RTK through third party provider, needs an internet connection, additional fees may apply) for absolute global centimeter-level accuracy in the event you don't want to use a base station,

The Yuneec H520E RTK system is an important part of commercial applications where the highest precision is required. Using the H520E RTK while 3D mapping will provide significantly lower image overlaps which means using less photos, resulting in a shorter flight. In addition, inspections can be much closer to the desired object because the drone's location will be precise down to the centimeter. This precision is also a great advantage when comparing several images taken on different days, for example to document a construction progress.

The RTK module allows for precise positioning, even in challenging environments and is fully integrated into the H520E's hardware and software. This means that you still have the full range of functions of the award-winning DataPilot software. All data, including raw GNSS data, can be logged on board. Thus, the system is also already for PPK (Post Processed Kinematics).
